T100 Carb Upgrade?

Hi Everyone,

I am pondering my winter projects. What is the difference in performance between the British Customs "CR" Racing Carbs at $ 549.95 and the other "FCR 39mm" Carbs at $1,295.00?

I'm running a stock 2007 T100 865cc with TOR's and the mains increased to 115's by the dealer.

Is either set of carbs a better fitment for my bike? I will do an ARK and possably a set of mild cams but that will be the extent of engine mods. I'm not likey to punch out the barrels with a big bore kit.

I asked the same and the response came back that the CR's
are the same (35mm) carb as whats already on there as stock
so performance wise gains would be minimal.

CR's would be more fun than CV's though.

Let's see. The difference as far as I can make out is $745.05. Shipping may change that some. Bob.

except that we have 36mm carbs stock.

I want to get some 36mm mikuni flatslides. $150 each from pro-flo, but you have to make them work.

I would go with the Mikuni's over anything keihin. It seems like an easier carb to tune. Sweatmachine is right and for $1295 I would go with the mikuni HSR42 over the FCR.

If you can figure out the hookup with the $150 carbs, you could probably have a tidy small business going by setting up and selling them as kits. Or you could post your findings here and spread the love... 1200 for a pair of carbs is ludicrous... There is nothing spectacular about the parts that make a carburetor. Who's making these, DeBeers?

No they are not the same!
I just recently installed 35mm Keihen CR-S carbs and I can tell you, not only are they not the same[except in size only] they are VASTLY superior to the stock carbs. The gain is not just minimal but phenomenal! They are a racing carb that is easy to access and tune unlike stock. The throttle response is touchy, that is if you barely turn the throttle the carb responds. And as far as the biggest gripe about Bonnies and Thruxes, the mid-range, there is no bogging or hesitation. So yes you can buy $1300 worth of carb but I doubt you will $1300 worth of satisfaction unless you are a racer on the track. For $600, billet manifolds, spigots, etc is well worth the money and I grin ear to ear every time I crank hard at ANY RPM and get the response I feel I deserve. And I'll use the rest of the money I saved on other mods. Tell the truth, I don't think I need a 905 kit........maybe 1200cc

You tell 'em SHRuuM! I have the CR's also and find them better then stock. The biggest difference with the flat or roundslide carbs versus the stock CVK's is the lack of throttle plates. Stock, the cable works the plates, which then change airflow which then raise the slides. (an oversimplification I know) The flat or roundslides are connected directly to the slides. Response is there. I couldn't justify the $600+ difference. This is my daily driver, not a purpose built track bike. 35 or 36mm, no difference. Look down the throat of the stock carbs once and see how much those throttle plates restrict at anything other then wide open. I wouldn't mind Mikunis, don't get me wrong, but for twice the price I don't think they're twice the carb. I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade from stock.

Talk about ease of jetting, with a little tutelage from moto, you take two small screws off the top of carb, open the throttle, move the keeper slide over,grab the jet needle, let go of the throttle and you have the needle in your hand! No tank or seat removal. There are seven clip positions, from #1[lean] to #7[full rich] I moved mine from factory default of #4 and moved one notch down for a touch richer for a stronger idle and put her back in and test rode it......all in under 5 minutes.
Gotta luv the response, good bang for the buck.
