Ready to blow

I have a 07 SM and when I when I give it gas and shift at 5000 RPM which is nothing, it sounds like it's going to blow, and that's not even close to redline. Do theses wind out that much.

Give us a better description of the noise and how many Kilometres you have racked up. For a new bike to have engine problems is very rare. (I have a speedy 07 btw)

Not sure what you mean when you say it sounds like it is 'ready to blow'. Have you heard any other bike like yours to compare the sound. You have to give us a reference point or a sound clip. Do you hear a lot of mechanical noise or is it all exhaust noise?

He||, i regularly CRUISE at 5000 or more on interstates ! Either your idea of "ready to blow" is much different than most people or your bike has a problem. you might wanna take it in or do a ride with some fellow twin owners to see if your bike is different and therefore possibly has a problem. I'm more inclined to think you just aren't real experienced with bikes tho because they certainly don't sound like they're going to blow any more than any other bike. in fact, less than most sportbikes that turn double the revs. and i really doubt there would be any sort of problem short of something catastrophic that would make it sound like it's about to blow w/o having actually done it by now.

'ready to blow' I usually wind out to 5000 to shift in the first 3 gears. I know it is not really neccessary but I like it. Doesn't seem to phase the engine in the least. And it will turn higher with no effort.

if yours won't go, and it is a 07, it must still be under warrantee, take it back to the dealer.

Hi, Steve. It's probably as well you take it back to the dealers anyway. They can give you a proper assessment and, also, you can then blame the dealer if it does blow up.
For what it's worth, it *is* a noisy engine but it does love to be revved. After 2000 miles, I'm only just getting used to revving it rather than just ploddin' round, as I do in my 1500cc non-turbo diesel car!!!

thanks

What i mean is it sounds like it's at redline even know it's at 5000RPM. Maybe it's natural for the bike to be that loud,I have 875 miles. I came from a VTX 1800 and before that a Harley and they sounded alot different at that RPM

And people wonder why I don't have a rev counter....I can't get paranoid over such things...

If it sounds THAT bad take it and get it looked at. But remember they have a rev limiter and so can't rev so high that it damages the engine.

Cool

If it was a car you could just turn up the radio.

Going back to an aircooled engine after a VTX 1800 may be the problem. Buy some loud pipes and enjoy the symphony.

I've had 4 H-D's, and you don't ride the Triumph anything like the big V-Twin. They love and need to rev. 5000 rpm is nothing to the bike-enjoy it for what it is-let 'er rip!
