Looking for suggestions?
This is a pic of a bike I had in the very early 90's. I made the saddle bags and tool roll. The tool roll is a wonderful thing for ..... Tools! **** my hondas come with tools... But I digress ... I think it might be kinda cool and way functional to add one to my Bonnie. But where?? I have seen some on the bottom of the frame in front but that has to become a mess ... there really isnt room under the headlight bucket ... how about from the side on the seat frame rails?? I dont know if anyone has some pix of vintage bikes bonnie or not with this tool roll in a place other than under the headlight or any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Alex

Fork Tool Bag
I just bought a tool bag on Sunday and strapped it right below my headlight, over the mounts and around the forks, with no problems whatsoever. Yes I can provide pictures but i will have to bring the camera home and snap one tonight and post it tomorrow.

My Mini Saddlebags
Here is mine w/ tool bags. Just needed minimal storage, and these work perfect for me.

Tool bag
Under the headlight is the obvious place itshould g o& thats where I was going till I remembered that little thingy called a rectifier (w/ needs lots of air). Cancel that idea. Went t oa bike gig & found the perefect tool bag $14 Tourmaster. Between the bars w/ no bad anything!! Check it out here on Capt Don pics- Grey Plague posted it for me but its there, & works flawlesssly!! I was really pissed that I couldnt get a tool bag tjhat didnt look crappy, or "get in the way"! This does it all flawlessly!! No rectifier= no problem, but its there!! Check it uot?

My vote it to gut your airbox and go with pod/cone filters. Then use the area that the OEM filter was in as a toolbox. Plus you get a performance boost in the process... what could be better!

tools
I carried tools on all of my British bikes thru the 70's, fender bags on the back of the seat. The flathead thru the panheads and thru the shovelheads, I carried tools low on the front cradle frame or in saddlebags. I found all those tools were never used thru the Evo era and have never needed tools with any bike since the 73 Triumph and the 65 were sold. There's not many needed for that Triumph, and I find these days, unless I'm going out for days, to remote locations, I carry a credit card, cash and a cell phone. Theres a few allens small cresent, screwdriver combo, and leatherman under the seat. Gel cell batteries are smaller, hold up to vibration better and dont leak. They also alow extra room in your battery box to smuggle tools. I like the side bags Lucid. I have seen dozens of front fenders over the years with dents from tool bags mounted on the fork fronts, better low on the frame in front. that dirt will wash off. ~T~

Tool Bag
Yeah really not much t ocarry these days The bag is waterproof- cell phone, basic 2 tools, can of fix a flat, & somepersonal things of yourchoice.I keep a kickstand pad, some single handi wipes, poncho-in-a pouch (dollar store throw away), & a cheap digital camera. Thinkin a battery driver for the allen bolts for the seat 2 dollar store item. Decent space for that stuff.
