Tough morning on the Bonnie!
Hope it is better for everyone else..
About 1 mile down the back country road into work this morning there is a little dog in the middle of the oncoming lane. I slow down and keep an eye on him and he stays out of the way, no problem. Quarter mile down the road there is a sharp left turn. I see a truck speeding around the corner in MY lane! I hit the brakes hard and start to get on the shoulder. He still stays in my lane. Just as I am about ready to put it in the ditch he swerves back over in his lane. Another 5 seconds earlier and I would have been toast.
Then another quarter mile down the road a squirrel runs out in front of me..
I probably should have turned around and headed back home but the rest of the ride in was, happily, uneventful.

Glad you're okay and the dog. Gotta admit I'm a little indifferent to the squirrel and the guy in the truck. My ride was uneventful (I ride a rural back road into town too)but very chilly; I worry about the deer quite a bit. I hope the rest of your day is good. Mine will be mixed, the dentist is working me into the schedule at 10:30 CDT, a root canal is unavoidable I suspect.

After the encounter with the truck I would
have gone back home to change my underware.

I does always seem that one day you cruise in, the next everything in the universe is trying to kill you... glad to hear you made it safely!

stay alert, stay alive...
Glad to hear you made it through the ride without casualties. I commute on the bonnie as well and as much as I love riding, some days I wish I had a helicopter!

Sounds like you need a set of twin vulcan cannons on the road bars...
I think they put out about 1700 rounds in a short burst and with two of them, it should pretty well vaporize any thing in the way....a good mod for them is a laser actuated target acquisition system...that way all ya gotta do is bump the "fire" button and the road is clear again...

I commute almost daily in NYC to and from work. Some days are easier than others, but sometimes it really feels like the World is out to get you. I enjoy my cigar and beer on my balcony afterwards and wonder why am I still alive?
Cheers, mates

dude, that's what I do every Friday evening ( Why am I getting visions of the closing scene of Boston Legal ). Although my commute to and from the central business district of Melbourne I doubt would be as hairy as NYC.

A squirrel is no big deal in an automobile, but on a bike it's something altogether different. There's the natural instinct to avoid it, and if you run over a big squirrel it's quite a jarring bump! Ask me how I know.
