Stock Seat V Triumph Single Seat On Thruxton
In readiness of the polished alloy tank which will hopefully be with me at the end of this week after a 4 month wait, I have fitted the single seat unit. The new seat gives the bike a longer lower look, even though it is slightly shorter. The new seat is also wider, so it should be more comfortable on longer rides.

Hey Rob

Was going to PM you to find out what had happened to that tank! From one of your earlier posts I thought you were going to have to shorten the seat (to accomodate the longer tank); Is your tank in fact going to use same mountings as original?

Baker Tanks have fitted horse-shoe shaped retainers as fitted to the stock seat, to secure the front of the tank to the spine frame. An alloy 'button' is located at the rear. They suggest I strap the back of the tank down with a strong rubber band, not unlike to drive bands in vacuum cleaners. I'll see what to do once the tank arrives.

I am not sure yet whether I will need to shorten the new seat. It looks fine set back from the stock tank. It's another decision to make once the tank arrives.

Have you taken any long rides on the solo seat yet? I have the normal hyde solo seat and it's noticeably better than the stocker. I am a sucker for the thrux seat with cowl though. If it feels like the stock bonnie seat it's a no go.

Did you chop the stock fender? Looks tight.

I have not tried the seat yet as I only bought it today.

I did chop the rear fender.

I custom made the sprocket cover. Easy job really using 1mm thick alloy. The stock cover weighs almost 1Kg!!!!! The chain guard 0.5Kg!!!!!!
