Saw the new fuel injected Bonnie
Had 2 or 3 at my local dealer. The fuel injection system is located inside existing carb bodies - very impressive.

No, sorry they didn't have a demonstrator. What I found really odd is that Triumph have persisted with the dreaded AI system as well --- why?????

Just guessing - but Federal EPA probably requires it.

I bet you're on the right track, but I doubt it's the US regulations that do it. My understanding is that the EU regs are way tougher to comply with

That's where my money is. I gather that meeting the Euro 3 standard is what forced the switch to fuel injection. A carb won't pass.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's EURO3 that's causing the AI to still be there.

you are absolutely right. For exampple here in Italy the law obliges the new motorbike to be euro3 (therefore no carbs)

Since the EFI is in the carb bodies, I wonder if we could easily upgrade out carb'd bikes to EFI, but I assume it will cost alot. I wonder if it would be a direct replacement.

I bet the only way around the AI is to have a full cat converter in the exhaust.
