tank range TBA and TBS
I know this is an old topic - and forgive me for that - but I'm really jonesing for a TBAmerica to replace my Yammie FJR, but fuel range concerns me. I gather that standard, unmodified Bonnies/T100s, caressed gently, are delivering anywhere up to 160 miles/250 kms before reserve, and up to 180+ miles/290 kms total.
What about the America/Speedmaster. Can anyone give me their experience, maybe with a hint about the level of mods. Of course I'm spoiled with the FJR's 500km range, and don't expect anything close to that!
Any likelihood that the '09 fuelie will have better range or a bigger tank?
Thanks in advance for any info anyone can offer.

America - MPG
I have an '06 America with the TOR's and a 19 tooth sprocket, I am averaging about 45 miles per gallon. I usually fill up when I have around 135 miles on the tank, I haven't run it to the reserve tank in a while, so you'd just need to estimate it. It of course will depend on the type of driving/speeds you did, and, I ususally put in premium gas every other fill up that tends to get a little higher mpg.

America Mileage
My '02 got around 45 MPG stock. After usual mods it dropped to 42. It doesn't matter how or where I ride, it gets 42MPG period! I have to hit reserve at 140 miles like clockwork.
AI out, long TORs,Uni,de-snorked and drilled airbox, 120/42 jets. Just ordered some Thruxton needles and 125 mains, and saving up for Bubs or Sceptres!

'05 America, Thunderbike pipes, 150/42 Jets, 2 Shims on stock needles, Ghetto Freak modification (airbox gutted w/K&N pods), aftermarket Idle Mixture thumbscrews.
Not sure if/how it affects gas mileage, but replaced stock Bridgestones with Metzlers and stock shocks/springs with Progressive (440 rear).
4.4 gallon tank at 45-48 MPG in "city" while periodically "getting on it". As much as 55-58 MPG on highway at constant cruise speed (65-80MPH).
I'm pretty close to seal level.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Tom

Thanks for the helpful info, everyone. This is such a great forum!
Sounds like, if I go with a 19-tooth and AI removed, I should be able to run around 160 miles/250 kms before reserve - that's good enough for me. I'll prpbably otherwise stay fairly stock other than windsheild and a little chrome. I'm looking forward to slowing down and smelling the roses, but on a bike with character. 'Thnk I'm gonna be a happy TBA owner soon.

I'm lucky to get to 130 before hitting reserve, roughly 40 MPG.
It's OK, my rear end usually is looking for a rest by then anyway and gas stops come at by the 120 mile mark.
