Question A little bling

In a moment of weakness I ordered a Chrome Clutch Cable Bracket (from newbonneville.com) and the Chrome OEM Clutch Lifter Arm Cover. Yeah, I know it's bling - and doesn't give any extra BHP. Oh well, I was just fed up seeing the ugly original parts.

Anyway, are there any hints, suggestions, tips that you have for me for the installation? I have the Hayne's manual, and a torque-wrench for the bolts that hold the bracket. Does the Cover just "snap on" outside the original, or do I have to release the cable to install the Cover?

Thanks in advance for the help.

TB-T100,

The directions that come with the lifter arm cover are great. You DO have to release the cable to slide the rubber boot on the, BUT luckily it's designed like bicycle brake cables, where you can dis/reconnect them easily.

The cover itself merely is centered over the existing lifter arm and secured with integral screws that press up against the arm. Bring your metric allen wrenches.

Bottom line- don't sweat this install!

X1... You might need a small vice grip to hold the lever over to free the cable (it's a ball-end/slot type assembly)...put the mini gator on, small end forward, and then reconnect the cable. The dresser cover just slips over the arm. Hold it firmly while tightening and center it...the allen screws will flush out on both sides this way. And DO use a dab of blue or green Loctite on the setscrews per the instructions. I just put the black one on the Greenwood and it looks sharp.

Thumbs up +1 on the Bling

I just put on the same bling in black. I bought the sprocket cover, the Clutch Cable Bracket, and the Clutch Lifter Arm Cover all in black from Brent. Although it is expensive it does look great; especially the open sprocket cover!
Just a heads-up, the Clutch Cable Bracket is exactly the same as the OEM one except Black - so you can just paint yours with Black from the spray can and it is a done deal. When I opened up the package I saw this and said to myself, "Self" you just wasted $18. So, I painted my OEM one.
I am going to sell the one I got from New Bonneville for $15 with FREE S&H - if your not into painting.

Future Bling:

One of the first things I got for my motorcycle - rather THE first thing - was the lifter cover from NB. Although the average oogler of the bike probably did not notice it, I certainly did!
