If you have some tools, and don't want to spend the money, you can make a bar end out of the stock mirror, there is some pics in the wiki/blog section, I did it and it was not hard at all, just need a dremel and some drill bits. I will post a pic tonight if you want.

Please do man! I need an excuse to by a dremel - also, what are the "basic" tools the forum recommends for a beginner like myself?
I'm getting the Haynes manual ASAP -
by the way the I love the smell of gasoline and oil...I think I'm getting addicted...

compare the two
I used a hack saw to remove the nipple (heh heh heh, he said nipple) on the end of the napoleon.
Some Blue Loctite on the allen headed screw. I am thinking about taking the metal tabs that came with it and drilling a hole and adding a nub, then drill a shallow indent on the bar end to mount and keep the mirror from moving.
Tools you need, as many as you can afford!
A good metric box end wrench set, a good set of metric sockets, a good set of screw drivers, a bike stand, a mini fridge stocked with your choice of beverages.
basically go to (insert hardware store name here) and tell them you need one of everything. Do not take the wife, girlfriend with you, they just do not understand.

Excellent shot Mr Bing, I always hear people talking about better views w/ Napoleons, but first pic I've seen with a good compare.

I just noticed that the view was on the same area.
They do make a huge difference, I was going to use the mod to make the old mirror work. I am glad I got the bar ends, much better field of view and much less vibrations in the mirror.

Wow! Thanks for the comparison photo - I'm sold, but I'd still like to see the stock mirror conversion mentioned by jfenton -
Thanks again for your input - part of me is a little scared to tamper with the bike, but my gut tells me dive in and if I mess up, just take her to the dealership~
Dang I'm hungry...
