Sorry Guys...Jetting

Sorry guys, but i could use your thoughts...

AI Removed
Snorkel Removed
Stock Airfilter
JC Whitney Shorty Reverse Cones (EMGO)

125 Main
Stock Pilot (40 i believe)
3.25 Turns Out on the Pilot Screw

The bike does not seem to be running as well as it should and i have heavy POPPING when using the gears to slow down...any thoughts?

(I currently have 115-130 Mains and 42 Pilots ready to install if need be)

Again, sorry for the jetting question..i know these post get old.

First check for air leaks at the rubber intake rubbers. The stock clamps do not tighten very well...I used some aftermarket clamps that will snug things down a bit more. Also, I find that the Thruxton needles work a great deal better for my '03 T100 (790cc). They may help yours...use shims to fine tune.

Like the other guy said tighten up fittings...the jetting should be OK with the side snorkel removed...alot of bike do that till they are really warmed up after 7 miles or so I think it will not pop very much...

also check your exhaust, might have a leak where your cans meet the header since you have aftermarket cans. tighten the clamps really well & use sealant. Also check for missing carb caps. 3.25 turns also sounds a wee bit rich too, you could also try backing off a bit to see if that helps.

IMHO get rid of the stock filter and fit a freeflow.

Thanks,
Here's what i will do...

1st, Check intake connections for "snug'ness" and if need be hit HomeDepot for new/better clamps.
2nd, Check for vacum leaks or missing plugs/caps/hoses.
3rd, Remove headers/mufflers and have exhaust shop weld the connection so that there is only one (1) bolted connection per muffler instead of the two (2) that i currently have.
4th, Use high temp copper silicone gasket and torque down the muffler/header connection for a *air-tight connection.
5th, Dial back to 2.5 Turns out on the Pilot.

After i get the headers welded, should i use/replace the header-engine gaskets or just use the high temp copper silicone gasket?

I'll check back when i'm done and let you guys know if how its running.
