Talking turn signal switch has a gremlin

gave my dnm demn a bath about a week ago, and as always was very careful about getting water in any of the electronics. after i dryed her all off I gave her a once over and realized that none of my turn signals were working. well i began to trouble shoot the problem by blow drying out the switch , checked the fuses shook the wires checkin for a short and nothin...
well a week goes by and still no signals, so I decide to the dealer since she is still under warranty. well last night as i am riding her to a friends house the blinker lights come on but don't blink. i get up this mornin and get ready to drop her off and the blinkers work perfectly.?? happy to have her workin properly, but has anyone ran into this before?
were the electronics still wet?? i live in sacramento where the past week has been 100 degrees + figured that heat would dry out anything.
let me know if youve experienced this type of problem.

Sounds like your flasher unit (behind the left side cover) may have been water-logged. Check that area and you might want to apply some dielectric grease to the connectors on the relays in that area also.

Flasher

The flasher and starter relay are prone to getting wet no matter how careful you are when washing. The Dielectric grease is a good suggestion. I also put some electrical tape around the joint between the relay and junction box. You can also put a plastic bag over them while washing. I would put the side cover back on while washing.

signals

As said try a sponge bath or better yet "Dry Cleaning". Bonne's donttake to water very well. Dont care much for salt air either! The closest thing my Bonne has cometo a hose is the rare rain shower before you can find cover. I always try to remember where the nearest Bank drive thru's or covered gas pumps are on trips! Water sounds like it was your problem- sealing cnnections is the thing to do. Only elec problem I have had is when I put on the new horn & hooked it bkwds. Blew a fuse. Found out that fuse does the horn turn signals & some other stuff. My 67 AH 3000 had 2 fuses for the entirecar! The british dont change in some ways- more fuses that control bizzare combo's! Nothing dedicated t o1-2 circuits. O well takethegood w/ the bad.

This happened to me last year. After removing the left side cover I saw that the rubber strap holding the flasher relay to the frame had rotted (just like the battery strap!) and the flasher was hanging upside down. In that position it collected and held any water that got in. I pulled it from the socket, blew it dry, replaced it, and used a velcro computer cable strap to hold it to the mount. No problems since. I've recently thought that a half-inch ring cut from a bicycle inner tube might be good for securing the relays. I remember someone also suggested a section of bicycle tube with slots cut in the ends for a battery strap replacement.
