Okay, let's get serious about this! Your motorcycle's surname (or family name) is Triumph, like all the other bikes that come off the factory line. Her given name, or her name within the Triumph family, is Bonneville. That's what is on your registration, owner's manual, etc. Other designation like T100 or 865 or whatever are like
Senior, Junior, or whatever. What is really important is what
you will call her. She has to have a name, and we've had some pretty lively discussion on this forum as to how to come up with that name.
First thing you need to know is that your Bonneville is, in fact, female. We know this because of three simple things:
- She's beautiful. Far to beautiful to be anything but female.
- She cost you a lot of money.
- She's likely to go on costing you a lot of money.
If that doesn't define a female, I don't know what does. With that settled, you just need to come up with an appropriate name. If you're having trouble I can help you with that as well. I've posted this advice before and it went over pretty well, so here it is again.
- Remember, your bike is British. I don't care what anyone says about where she was assembled or what kind of carbs are on her, she's British.
- The Sun is a popular tabloid newspaper in England, and every day they feature a hottie known as the Page 3 Girl.
- Go to Page3.com, click on "Archives", and go to the date that you brought your Bonnie home (her birthday).
- The Page 3 Girl for that day is your bike's name. There you have it, a beautiful British girl's name for a beautiful British bike. The girl for today (Sept 5) is... Katie!
Let's hear it for lovely Katie...

If you're not happy with the name for the day you brought her home, pick one that's close. Or something entirely different. Either way, it's a great way to spend a little time.
