T-100 vs BMW F800 vs Duck S2R vs etc.
I'm waiting on an insurance settlement. If rebuilding my T-100 isn't feasible, I'll be shopping for a new & different ride.
The short list includes: BMW F800, Ducati S2R, Triumph Sprint, and every other two wheeled motorized work of art.
I'm not high on getting a new T-100. I can only afford one bike at a time. I really liked my Bonnie but I'd like something different.
Any input from Bonniville owners would be great.
Also looking for comments from owners of BMW, Ducati, etc.
Thanks,
MaxH

As a Junior poster
I'd just like to say I'm lost for how to advise you, seeing how this is a Triumph forum and you are not "high" about another Bonneville.!!!!!!!
Sorry maaaate but that is really cold!!

I like the S-version of the F800. That said, if I were buying a bike right now it would be the Ducati Sport 1000. What do you think of the Ducati GT 1000? It has some of the retro appeal that surely brought you to the Bonneville, as well as the same upright riding position.

There is a Sprint board on this forum. If you ask there, they will tell you the Sprint is the best invention since the bikini. Try an F800 forum.Ditto. And,well you know the Ducatisti!
Coming to a Bonneville forum, and saying you want to buy any bike in the world, except a Bonnie,is probably not the most efficient way to get a usable answer.
Probably your best bet is to find a generic sports touring forum. They are out there.I can't steer you to one, because that's not my forte.
Or,you might try the Cycle World forum. But,if you go there, make sure you wear your helmet, and a cup- .

Cheers!

Of the choices you gave, I'd go for the beemer, nice bike, though a bit overpriced even for bmw standards ( specially when you add in all the extras). Great middleweight tour. I've heard it has a bit of nose diving.
The duc is nice and at least is one of the more economical ducs to upkeep.
Since you seem to prefer European bikes (good for you!) don't count out moto guzzi.
Carefully consider what style of riding you do, ergonomics, advanced safety features, financial obligations.... then chuck it out the window and buy what puts a smile on your face & quickens your heart rate. That's what we all do anyways, laugh. Let us know what you get.

Sorry. This is not the appropriate place to ask Bonneville riders about their experiences with other makes & models.
I was mistaken.

If I had to do it all over again, I would look at the Street Triple.
At the risk of flames, I would also look at a Buell Ulysses.
I know two totally different bikes.

I came within a hairsbreadth of getting the Uly,instead of my Scrambler. What finally tipped the scales was carbys and chain, over F.I. and belt.
(OK! OK! So the Scrambler's gorgeous and the Buell is butt-ugly.So call me shallow.I chose beauty over brawn.Sue me already!)
