Jims Spacers...
I ran into a guy from Florida at The Long Valley Brew Pub in NJ. He told me to get spacers to raise the handlebars on my Bonnie. I still can't figure out if I want to lower my bars or raise them.... but I know I don't want to keep them the way they are. Does anyone have any feedback to help me make this decision?

There's not really much any of us can do for you if you don't know whether you want to go up or down.
It's a pretty basic decision.
If you want a more relaxed ride then go up. If you want something more aggressive then go down.
What exactly is "wrong" with the stock bars that you feel compelled to change them?
****, give us something to work with.

Drift- if you havent a screen fitted to your bike ,the ideal position is leaning into the wind otherwise you turn into a human sail at highway speed.and that can be a real pain in the back...

bar pozzie?
I hated the bars when I first got mine. They jarred my arms and shoulders big-time on sharp bumps. I just backed off the bolts on their mounts and pulled them back towards me. As they 'rolled' in the mount it sort of lowered them, but more importantly, brought them back towards me a bit. Now its great and didn't cost a cent.

Spacers
Hi,
I had heard that the European Bike Night was no longer held there. I guess that is wrong...
I'm in Stockholm, NJ so not that far away. If you want to meet someplace you can get a feel for what the risers will do. I have the Jenks ones on my 06 Bonnie. They raise the bars about an inch and back maybe a 1/4 inch. I think that is about the limit with the stock cables. There is very little slack left.
With my bum back I wanted a more fully upright riding position and that what they give. They do as was pointed out put you more up into the wind. I dimished that effect somewhat with the Triumph Flyscreen. PM me if you want to meet someplace.
Was at the Hooters in Wayne tonight. May do the Hooters in Franklin tomorrow and the Chatterbox Thursday.

Yep, I also put the Jenks spacers on my Bonnie-it was just the tough I needed. I ended up swapping out the clutch cable for an America cable which is a bit longer. The stock still fit but I did not like how it was so tight-looked like too much stress to me. A simple swap and now I have a spare! As a bonus it made the stock mirrors extend past my arms and be useful.

bars
You can get a set of risers from new bonneville. They will bring your bars up 3/4 of an inch and back about one inch.....In my case they made the bike more comfortable since i like a more upright position....you can also (which i did as well) rotate the bars back towards you and down which will let you gain about half an inch towards you.
You might even want a set of short (6") riser bars which will bring you way upright....although you have to buy a set of extended cables and that's about two hundred.....or so....
My suggestion would be to try the risers from new bonneville, they run about $70 and if that doesn't do it, sell em on ebay....
enjoy

But...
mind you, risers will make your body into even more of a parachute.
