Question Starter solenoid HELP !!!

Starter solenoid I hope.
I went out to lunch came back I turned on the key
I pushed the starter button and nothing.

The battery has a full charge.
I have power to the ignition switch.
I have power going to the starter button and
The starter button is working.
I used a jumper wire over the starter solenoid and
She starts up.
Am I missing any thing or am I correct to assume it is
The starter solenoid?
I’m at work right now so I don’t have my manuals.
Any suggestions Please

Thanks Jeff for the second opinion
I have a trip planed for this weekend I hope to leave Friday morning
and be back on Sunday.
There is not a lot of dealers around here. every one I called said they
would have to order it.
The last one I called said they have one in stock and they will over
night it to me $75.00 total but I will have it tomorrow.
I really hope that it is the solenoid.

Fuses

Check your fuses. I had a similar issue and it was my headlight fuse.

Also, I would not order it from bikebandit if you want it before halloween. If someone said they'd have it local tomorrow I'd go for that deal.

If you want to order it and have it mailed to you I'd call Baxter Cycle. They be pretty fast.

Billy when you say starter solenoid - the manual (haynes) lists it as a relay behind the left side panel, have you checked for power at the spade terminals to the relay whilst pressing the starter button, also manual says check fuses.

Know the feeling

Ijust went through starter issues, although different since my starter kept winding after the bike started. Since you could jump the posts and it started it sounds like a solenoid but it could be a relay. You can get a relay at Advance, Autozone etc. I posted the numbers in this link. A lot od good advice in the thread below.

Go to Maintenance and Repairs menu and look at "Starter Issues"

Good luck

Thank you for all the replies.
One of the first things I checked when I was in work
was all the fuses and I thought they all look good.
When I got home and read through my manuals Haynes
and the Triumph factory manual. There is a whole lot more
between the starter button and the starter solenoid the Haynes
manual calls it a relay.
I never thought the starting circuit would be tied in with the
lighting circuit. But, it is. It goes through the lighting relay
But anyway. After a lot of probing and using jumper wires
I traced it back to the head light fuse which again it looked good
But when I tested it with my meter it showed that it was open (no good)
I put a new fuse in turned the key and it blew right away ***.
I disconnect the lights put a new fuse in…. all is well.
She fired right up. There has got to be a short in the lighting
circuit. Back to probing can’t find it. Connect the lights back
up…. All is well. I don’t know if there is a short I won’t find it till
it happens again. So I have a new solenoid coming tomorrow
shipped over night .$75.00 bucks I hope they will let me return it.
If not…..any body want to buy a solenoid ?.
Thanks again.
Bill

Did your problem with the starter turn out to be the starter relay?
The starter relay is also the headlight cut out relay. It cuts power
to the lights and sends it to the starter solenoid wile the starter button
is being pushed. Your problem sounds like the starter/light cutout relay
was stuck in the closed position sending constant power to the solenoid.

My problem is
The starter relay/light cutout relay and the solenoid both checked out OK.
There has to be a short some were in the lighting circuit.
Right now every thing is Ok. I will just have to wait till it happens again
and hope I can trace it down.
Thanks for the link there was some good stuff over there.
Bill
