Thought I'd say g'day
Found this site by accident, so thought I might just join in. I started riding back in ’68, sold my last bike in ’75 (usual thing – marriage, house, family etc. etc. etc.). Trouble with riding a bike is that it gets into your blood and never really goes away. Well, last year my lovely wife said “Perhaps you’d better buy another bike, while you can still enjoy it”. (Actually, I think she got tired of my constant reminiscing about riding!).
My first thought was a Harley, because I wanted something basic – no high revving, multi-cylinder, water-cooled, full-fairing pseudo racer. Someone mentioned a Triumph and coincidentally the Harley dealer also sold Triumphs, so I wandered into the showroom, took one look at the Bonneville and that was it!! It took me back all those years, rekindled fond memories of good rides, drinking, rallies, drinking, camping trips, and did I mention drinking? (It’s not that I owned a Triumph then, rather it’s the style that is so representative of the era).
Anyhow, in October last year I became the proud owner of a White/Tangerine T100. At that time it was the only one available in Oz, so it’s just as well I like the colour – actually, I love the colour combo, it’s so different to all the black/red/blue/yellow bikes out there. I still had my old leather jacket and boots, and they still fitted – sort of. Methinks they must have shrunk after all these years!!
First thing I needed was some way of carrying things, so a Ventura rack system was bought. A long story with this, they’re supposed to be custom made for each bike model, but I ended up having it replaced because it wouldn’t fit properly, trouble is the replacement was no better. As it was chrome, it made it difficult to modify, but eventually I sort of got it to fit with some judicious bending and hammering!!!
Next was a Triumph Roadster screen, to reduce the wind buffeting, and guess what, this didn’t fit properly either, I had to make new lower brackets!!!
Then new boots, followed by a new (Dainese) jacket. The dealer threw in an open-face helmet, but I’ll still need a new closed-face helmet sometime.
And then along came a set of Triumph fabric panniers (with rails), courtesy of a mate who bought a bike with them on but didn’t want them (less than half new price). Except I had to make new brackets, because the Ventura rack got in the way. Oh, and I bought a genuine (new) Service Manual off ebay at half price (and have converted it to PDF – don’t know why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time!).
So, $2000+ extra later……
I do, however, have a question that someone may be able to help me with. While removing the secondary air injection I had to take the tank off. Underneath are two connectors – one is for an accessory socket, which I intend fitting, but I don’t know what the other one is for. It is active when the ignition is on, is the same colour coding as the indicator ccts. and appears to be for a small type of light that has two parallel pins on its base. The connector does not appear anywhere in the wiring diagrams, nor is it mentioned anywhere in the manual. Any ideas, anyone? I’m curious what it’s for.
So here I am, after all these years, with a lot less hair and the beard now white instead of black, back on a bike. Sometimes, life is good.

First of all - Hi and welcome! and secondly the connector you mention could possibly be something to do with californian law, but no doubt someone will correct me as they duly should.
Ride safe

Welcome and ride safe!
Technically challenged as I am, I can unfortunately not help you with your questions.

I think the 2 plugs, are for accesory and factory alarm.
enjoy the ride, you have either a great wife, or one that just wants you out of the house for long periods of time. either is good

Congratulations!
Welcome, you're obviously a man of impeccable taste in bikes and wives. (Wives in the singular) just being careful, it's hard to ride after a kick in the nuts.

first of all welcome they seem to tolerate ozzies well on this forum , one thing in your post that was weird, my ventura rack bolted straight on , five minutes work and it fits to perfection ,its only a simple rail system, anyway you will find this site very accomodating, and in my opinion research everything you add to your bike through the search system on this site, it saves a lot of cash to learn by other peoples mistakes..

Firstly welcome. You found the only real Triumph website to come to.
The connector is NOT for the alarm. I had the Triumph alarm fitted and it plugs into the blanked off connector under the seat. Sorry, I've no other ideas.
Cheers mate.
 Ernie.
PS. Goodonya is a place in Poland?

by the by, does anyone know where I can get a mating connector for the accessory plug itself? and I would like to know also what that other connector is for; I saw it there recently myself.
