footpeg crisis
can somebody please tell me a good source of universal footpegs that will replace EITHER the passenger set or the front set of pegs?? at this point i don't care! ...and i'm not paying $80 for the factory ones - the reason one of them broke in the first place is because they're cast out of pig iron or whatever crap they make them out of.
one of my stock front ones broke so i moved the passengers up to the front until i can find replacements. i cannot BELIEVE how hard these things are to come by - i'm in new york city, for chrissakes!! and NOBODY HAS ANYTHING... all the bike shops i've been to are lousy! like really amazingly lousy and nobody knows anything. are bonneville footpegs really so freakishly different from others that nobody can help me?
i removed my pegs with a 12mm wrench - so i know the nuts are 12mm. does that mean the bolts are 10mm??
i thank anyone for a kind word and some advice.
cheers,
~m

Metasac, you are really, really a nice guy. [kind word]. As for advice, seems like the 'net in conjunction with this site is the best way to get parts or modify. Triumph dealers seem to have little other than whole bikes. While I haven't scrutinized my pegs with great interest, it is only a foot peg. You'll find something that fits. Have you tried the search function here at RAT?
Hang in there, man.

sorry... my last post actually sounds way angrier than i really am... it's just that a gale-force wind knocked over my bike waaaaaay back in march and this issue has just been festering quietly under the surface... until that last post.
if you search "triumph foot pegs" or any permutation of that search on ebay, all you get is the rubber parts.
i know that there must be universal pegs that will work... the tough part is finding somebody that know what the measurements are.
my guess is that if i buy 10mm footpegs, they should work for me, since i think 12mm nuts go on to 10mm studs. (a 12mm nut fastens the footpeg assembly to the frame). can anyone confirm or deny my hypothesis?
thank you,
~m

when i bought the bike, it actually came with a pair of these oberon pegs uninstalled... not only did i not really like the "s & m" look of them, they didn't fit without modification (which is why they weren't installed).
i'm just an average dood with a comprehensive tool set - but i live in an apt in brooklyn and i don't have a garage or any cool power tools or dremels or wire wheels or anything like that. so if i have to modify stuff, i usually don't get it.
thanks for the thoughts, though, guys. and if you have any other ideas, i'm all ears.
cheers,
~m

I'm not sure what the pound is to the dollar, but I know it is high. You might be better off going through Bike Bandit for the stocks.

Maybe it depends on which style Oberon pegs you buy, or what year model your Bonnie happens to be. Not sure, but I do know that the Touring Pegs fit my Bonnie... no larger hole was required. It's true that they're not cheap... about 65 USD a pair as I recall.

I dropped my Scrambler in the garage and busted the right foot peg. Bought a replacement from Bike Bandit. Easy to replace. The peg is held on by a circlip. If you order the peg, order a circlip also and a spring just in case.

Footpegs
Hi,
I don't know of anyone making front pegs for your bike. However you might want to look at Kuryakan for the rears. They market an adapter that will put theirs on and then you have some choices of pegs. I did that on my T100 and it worked well. Check here:
http://www.kuryakan.com
The Triumph adapter for the pegs is part #8840
Not much you can do on the Labor Day holiday but Tuesday within range for you would be Freehold Honda-Triumph. Here:
http://www.freeholdhonda.com
They also operate this company for internet sales:
http://www.madss.com
To replace stock Triumph parts they were giving a discount and also had the Kuryakan line. So you might try them.
