Reading DrewDesign007's posting about picking up his new Bonnie reminded me of last Saturday... and how lame I am.
The plan was my buddy and I would drive down with his trailer from Raleigh to Charlotte to buy my '05 Bonnie Black. Mapquest sent us through the hood only to pop out on the other side in a gorgeous (and affluent) neighborhood. We get to the guy's house and the bike is beautiful. Done. After giving it a good visual audit I asked if I could take it for a spin. He agrees and I suit up. Now, not being from the neighborhood let alone the city he rattles off a good route for me to take. Me being under the influence of a new bike replies "Sure, great". It should also be noted the bike has no plates on it; they were transfered to his new bike.
Off I go into the quiet neighborhood, the bonnie's stock pipes whirring behind me. Curving through the tree lined steets out I went into traffic thinking about my future with the new bike. I turned around and headed back to the neighborhood where the streets... ALL LOOKED THE SAME!
"This is the right street. Nope, wait..." Yes folks, I got lost on my test ride.
After a half hour of trying to find my way back I finally had to pull over and call my friend. The seller had to come and escort me the >mile ride back to his house. So my test ride was 10 minutes of "Hey this is great!" and 20 minutes of thinking "I'll just say 'No honestly officer, I'm on a test ride'".
Oh, it was 95 degrees out too so when I got back I was totally dehydrated. I swear sometimes I wish the state would intervene with my life for my own protection.
But hey, I got the bike!!!
