Angry Can't get the oil to come out.

Always went to my cousins to drain the oil using his bike stand. Warmed the bike up for ten minutes. Not using a stand,I put a 3" or so block under the kickstand ,Loosened the filter, pulled the crank filler cap, then the filter, the oil won't drain. I can see oil in the sight glass when I level the bike , sitting up completely straight. I genuinely don't get it? Has it got to do with the kickstand?

Look Mate, don't take this the wrong way but I need to ask the stupid question...did you remove the drain plug?

And don't do what some moron did recently during an oil change, overtorquing the drain plug and stripping the threads. Ouch!

Good luck.

I'm Fired.

Your nickel is right G, I've been in a hurry in too many ways. My old man (82), who is currently in the hospital again, used to say "No sense being stupid unless you show it", one of his more famous Firefighter phrases. I'm Fired. P.S.No wonder I couldn't find the sealing washer.

Glad to hear it was something that simple.

Has it got anything to do with the kickstand? Nope. It's got to do with the melon between my shoulders.

Also, i would suggest not putting the kickstand on something to level the bike. I did that once and turned around to walk away and heard a crash that could have woke people on the other coast. Luckily no major damage, but i would really warn against doing that. I did it for a different reason tho. For the oil just leave it on the stand and let it sit for maybe 10 minutes and sit on it every couple minutes and lean it the other way. You'll then see it go from a drip to a stream again and it'll remove a lot of oil that otherwise would remain. But please, don't put a block of wood under the kickstand ! It ain't fun hearing your bike crash to the cement.

Well Speed, you got ba_ls. I really got to admire you for taking it on the chin. I don't know how many of us would have fessed up to that. Just remember, "there is no such things as a stupid question". If the answer provides a solution to a problem, no matter how ridiculous or.... that's what the forum is for!

My hat's off to yah.

Dazco

I think I remember that story well, you told me after I dropped my bike because I forgot to put the kickstand down. I think I remember your classic line-"CRASH" "I was about to hang myself right then and their." LMAO. But knew exactly what you meant , quite literally. I also thought about that tonight, so had the youngest hold the bar,at least I have some brain activity. Need to slow down though, I'm getting burn't out. I got a shocker this afternoon when I went to get the bosch filter and Mobil Racing 4T oil at the zone- $8.20 a Qt........WOW!
