My dyno run yesterday

has opened up a can of mental whoopass for me regarding the air/fuel ratio. The AFR was rich across the board and very rich around 3500.But as the graph indicates, this is where the torque started to bulge upward. Is the torque a result of the richness? I plan to remove at least one of the shims on the Thrux needles to lean it out a bit in that area, but without access to the dyno again,I don`t want to chance losing that midrange surge.I also have the next smallest main jets [117.5 in this case]which could lean out the upper rpms, but how critical is it to overall performance to try to reach the magic 13.2AFR? I`m sure the entire AFR could or would change if I simply changed the air filter or rode at a higher elavation,so I`d like to stay a bit on the rich side.Opinions?

Follow the results, if it likes it richer...go with it. I would go richer on the main, apparently she likes it fat! For giggles, go with the 2 steps up on the main for the next dyno, you can always go back!

Take it to another Dyno first, it might not be calibrated as it should

Thanks Jojie. Not sure when the next dyno run might be,but I`ll do it again for sure.I do know that the guy who tested 3 bikes before me was riding a Kawi cruiser/motorhome and had just come from his dealer with a brand new FI map and A/F test to get on the dyno. His couch registered a near straight line 13.2,except for a small hiccup just off idle.He had the earlier printout in hand and they were nearly identical. He did put up almost 98lb/ft max but almost the same low 70hp as the wee Bonnie, whose entire displacement was less than one of his water cooled jugs.

Well,I removed one shim, and as expected,no great change to rideability. It seems to pull a very, very little bit cleaner at low revs, but no harder. The idle did increase a couple hundred rpm though.Guess I`ll try it that way for a few weeks and concentrate on testing that new Mustang solo seat. LOL
