Loose gas cap

The gas cap on my Thrux won't stay screwed down. I tighten it until it clicks but after a couple of miles its loose and rattling. It has only just started happening. Tightening more just gets extra clicks but no tighter.

Is this a common problem?

Is there a known fix?

Haven't heard that one. Might just be a bad cap? The usual problem is just the opposite... can't get the d*mn thing off!

Yeah, it used to be a pain to get off. Now it doesn't want to stay on. I would rather it went back to being tight!!

It probably has a broken ratchet mechanism. Try removing the retaining ring and see if the spring inside is intact. Somehow it must be letting the top rotate freely instead of ratcheting tight.

Barry, I will check but I doubt the rachet is broken. Tightening the cap feels like it always has. It takes some pressure to get it click.

Stealth, I'm way outta warranty.
