Bad news, good news, and a caution...

Well, the bad news is that I lost my first match in my club championship this morning.
The good news is that it freed up my afternoon to go riding.

The caution is that America and Speedie owners should often check their bolts on their chain guards. This has been a large discussion topic over on the ba.com forum, and there have been some serious close calls from folks who had their guard either snap off or fall off in route.

I checked mine before heading out, and found the forward bolt to be loose. Gave it the loctite treatment, but will continue to be fastidious in checking it, both for tension and cracking/stress on the mouting bracket.

sorry bout the match!

My chain guard came off during a ride last year, I was going 70mph down some remote county road about 100 miles from home. I'm slowing to a stop and I hear this awful noise coming from the rear, I stopped and noticed the guard was wedged in between the chain and swingarm. The chain had sawed about 1/4'' out of it. I freed it and chukked it into the woods. Good riddance!

That would be me speed, on the 16th tee at Carnoustie, in Scotland, around 1998, I think. A lovely May day, about 50 degrees. I snap hooked a 4 wood, chunked my chip, pitched on and 3 putted for my 6.

Ah, memories.

Had a wonderful bowl of Arbroath Smokie soup and a plate of fish and chips, some pints and drams, and felt none the worse for wear the next morn.

golfer

I thought so,didn't want to assume though, gets me into trouble sometimes.Scotland? - from what I've read and have seen in pictures , what a neat place, Highlands and all. I imagine a dedicated golfer would take all the advantage of travel and play on their courses as well. Sounds like you really enjoyed that. Just wondered. Thanks.
