What's the max Hp for the 790?

Had my modified Bonnie dyno'd today to see how lean or rich I was. The service mgr told me that the bike was only a little lean at idle but not enough for me to fool with, in fact he further said that the HD's run leaner than my Bonnie at idle. He gave me pieace of mind and also complimented the bike on running so good overall.

But my question is in the title. I ask b/c the papers I got from the run, list my max power at 53.82 hp and max torque at 42.92 ft-lbs. Anyway just curious.

Thanks
Randy

What mods have you done? Your numbers sound about right if you've *just* done the basic mods like pipes & air filter. 80+ rwhp is possible if you are willing to do some SERIOUS(ly insane) modding (like nitro).

Why? Too many H-D's.

I am sure thatthe 790 will give you as much HP as you want todraw out of her. Depends how much you wantto spend?

Not sure what mods you've done, but here's my numbers from a recent dyno run. See my signature for my mods.

RPM TOR HP
3500 45 30
4000 43 32
4500 42 36
5000 39 37
5500 40 42
6000 39 44
6500 40 49
7000 40 53

Hope this gives you some base line for comparison. BTW - my bike is apparently running way rich, per the a/f ratio numbers. Some of the guys on the forum have suggested I'd see more power if I cleaned up my jetting.

BTW - I haven't seen any posts from Jojje (Sweden) for a while. Here's a guy who drag races turbocharged Bonnevilles. His bikes produce some stratospheric horsepower numbers.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks

Thanks for all the input. I've removed the vacuum canister, and am running shorty, slash cut, straight STOCK headers. Stock airbox and filter.

Your numbers look pretty good considering that you really haven't modified much compared to a lot of the guys here.

My question would be whether the bike now feels "right" for you. I guess it depends on whether getting higher dyno #s is your goal, or setting up a bike that gives you an experience of motorcycling that fits you, makes you happy. My own experience (I don't modify any more) has been that chasing numbers is a endless task. There is always "one more" thing to try for another 1% improvement. Which is fine as long as you don't forget to actually ride..............

Are those HP readings at the crank or rear wheel?

I have 64 hp at the wheels...Air Box removal, Straight pipes (Tear-Drops Mufflers), Jetting 135/42, A/F Linear through the whole range...As far as how the moto feels? It's just about perfect (I HATE THAT WORD- Perfect), Nothing is perfect in my opnion...but the moto charges with zero lag. at 1/2 throttle...You crank that **** thing...you better be holding on...My buddies CBR600RR is a fast bike...much faster...but the throttle response (lag) sucks...when he rides my Bonnie he can't over the response...

I recently went to larger K&N pods without changing the jetting and ran 59.6 hp...as you can imagine I went back to the smaller UNI pods I was running originally...

just for ****es and giggles...

Here is an estimated Power to Weight ratio for my Bonnie-0.13913043478261, to put that in car terms...that would be like a 3500lb (2007 Mustang GT?) car with 480-500hp...Just some useless information.

Talking my first dyno run

Just got home from my first ever dyno run. I`m pleased to say the least. Any way, here are the specs.
homemade 2into1 exhaust with gutted Thrux can
airscrew @ 3.25 turns
stock 40 pilot
Thruxton needles w/2 shims each
120 main jet
stock airbox with stock air filter and snorkel in place
19t cs sprocket

She`s running rich across the board and the tester said I might want to remove one shim. They also said I shouldn`t mess with the other jetting as that can be pretty temp sensitive.
