Black knurled plastic knob L/H side of carb?

Hi,

At the risk of showing my ignorance as a 'newbie' Bonnie owner what is the Black knurled plastic knob L/H side of carb for....is it to adjust the idle speed? Please be gentle with me

Spot on, it is the idle speed. Best left alone until the bike is hot.

If its at the top, it is the choke / enricher. If it is just below it is the idle adjustment. Give it a twist,...you know you wanna. Clockwise your idle will increase. Counterclockwise the opposite.

Thanks Kurtis, as I suspected. Had the T100 a few weeks now and have have spent most of the time just riding and enjoying it, now started to explore the beast. Tell me, what is the best idle RPM, or is a suck it and see excercise?

Hey Barneys - I have an '07 black and white also - my they're spiffy!

1000 rpms is the setting. It took a while to dial it in just right - small increments are good, but it has not moved since. It may be a little high when cold but will settle in to the correct rev after warm up.

It's one of those knobs you're constantly playing with - RPM when hot is around 1000

Thanks Guys,

Bit late to have a tweak tonight, nearly midnight here in the UK and don't think the neighbours would be very impressed even with stock exhausts. I'll warm her up tomorrow morning and try setting it about 1000 rpm.

My dealer set it and said my fingers would fall off if I touched it I have forgotten it is even there as the bike has been fine for the last 3500 miles

If your T100 is new, I'd recommend setting your idle just a little higher until the motor is completely broke in. 1200 RPMs for the first thousand miles. 1100 for the next thousand miles. Then back off to to the standard 1000 RPMs. And like Skyblue62 and Kurtis said, set the idle when the motor is at operating temperature.

Also while breaking in a new motor, you should vary your speed and gradually do higher RPMs as time goes on. But you definitely don't want to lug the engine at too low a RPM level either. That's why I say to set the idle a little higher for now.
