Octopus Removed

This afternoon I removed the octopus (AIS) from my T100. Pretty straight forward job, I used the kit from British Customs. The only tough part was removing the bolts from the cylinder heads. I ended having to cut the tubes about half way down and use a deep socket to remove them. They are on TIGHT. I tried using a wrench, but the bolt would not budge.

After the removal the bike seemed to start easier and the popping on decel after I installed the Staintunes is completely gone. I'm happy, 20 bucks well spent.

Now you can mount your horn, or an aftermarket horn that fits, where the AI valve used to be, under the tank. I put the NewBonneville horn there, it's a good fit and a bit louder than stock (still not loud enough, though).

It's been so long ago since I removed it, I cannot remember where the AI valve was mounted. But if there's room there for a better horn, I'm all for it. My older BMWs came with dual Fiamm horns that literally blasted stupid drivers out of their trance. The new BMW horns barely get my attention, much less that of some cager doing the cell phone thing.
