Saddle bags

Ok, gang. Time to put bags on my 07 America. Who uses what, how do you like them, where to buy, ect. I will say that I looked at the Triumph bags and feel they look to small for my taste. Pictures if you have them. Thanks one and all.

I'm very pleased with my Saddleman Drifter bags, size Large. Just over $100, mine have been bolted to Honda brackets for four riding seasons. A lot of folks have this bag in Jumbo, but looked too large for my tastes. In Large, each side holds a MC jacket with liner installed. You can put a lock on the roller buckle. The Jumbo size seems to crack the plastic backing plate, but no issues with my Large size bags. This place seems to always have the best price on the Large or Jumbo sizes:

I have the Saddlemen Jumbo slant drifters on my Speedy and they cracked very badly and Saddlemen blew me off when I contacted them about it. I would not buy from Saddlmen again. It's too bad, the bags fit the bike nicely.

Definitely go with Easy Brackets to mount whatever you get. They're priceless!

Go to www.leatherneckjim.com, he sells great synthetic & leather bags, Easy Brackets and has excellent customer service.

Good luck!

I don't think the Saddleman backing plates are made for the abuse of the Easybrackets. I bolted my bags permanently to Honda brackets in three places. No issues with cracking and I bring home a 12 pack of beer in each side about once a month. The Jumbo size also might not be up to the same abuse as the smaller large bags. I can't imagine riding without my bags, so the expensive Easy bracket features would be lost on me.

FWIW, I called Saddleman and asked to buy two more rubber grommets for the back. No charge and they overnighted the grommets. Of course that is a much smaller cost to them than replacing cracked bags.

$125 investment with four riding seasons of use is a bargain in my book.
I'd have a tough time coughing up $300+ for bags and another $100+ for Easy brackets.

Which Honda brackets did you use? And thanks for the picture.

One more thing-thanks. I looked at the link-did you cut off the yoke?

I bought the K-Drive bags and love them. Anyone who have seen them like the look that it gives the bike. Plenty of room in them and I like being able to lock them on the bike and the ease of removing them. Mikey

Clearly, I am carrying more beer than the Saddlemen bags will hold.
