I see you've had no feedback thus far, so I thought I'd chime in. While I don't have the AC-3, I do have a CL-33 which is similar. I like it a lot and bought two. I wanted a shield but not a full face. It fits well, is comfortable, lightweight, good shield, etc. I've used HJC's for years. They have a rep of being one of the best for the least money. Probably can't go wrong if you buy one.

Jhtjon - I have never ridden with a full face; they seem too much on my head. I fact I went for decades with a half helmet sans shield. My CL33 has a flip up shield and I LOVE not getting whacked with bugs, teary eyes, and stinging rain. All that "wind in my face" crap ain't all it's cracked up to be. Sure, a full face can save your face, but I've been ok without one so far.
Don't think I'd ride much any more without a shield. Goggles look cool, but I wear glasses.

Helmet
In winter I use my HJC AC10 but in summer use a RXT A-613 open face that has a flip up visor. The RXT is a cheaper brand but the fit and comfort is unbelievable for what you pay and the flip down visor sure beats bugs in your teeth at 110km/h.

Open Face w/Shield vs. Full Face

Good thread. I ride with an open face Shoei with face shield thinking it is cooler; especially here in Florida. I am tempted to try the full face to see if they have less wind noise but am concerned that they may be too hot for Florida riding.
Anyone tried both in hot weather? What is your preference?

I have the C5 and like it a lot. Fits my head better than the AC 3. HJC makes some pretty good, reasonably priced, open faced helmets. I can't actually wear a full face helmet: glasses and claustraphobia (sp?). Feel like I'm in a prison in one. Exactly the opposite of what motorcycling is supposed to be about, to my way of thinking at least.
