Germantown, MD Meet&Greet Sat 8/25

Seems like we've got quite a few people west of the DC metro area, who would like to meet without going into the city... How about meeting this Saturday at noon in the big parking lot in front of the Germantown Red Robin at the corner of Rt 118 and Century Blvd. After lunch we could take a slight detour over to Criswell Powersports where 1) one of the sales reps has a Bonnie/Bubs, 2) they won't care if we make a pile of noise comparing pipes, then we can head out for a group ride with a route based upon who shows up.

When: Sat Aug 25th, Noon til mid-afternoon?
Where: Red Robin Restaurant, Rt 118 & Century Blvd, Germantown, MD
What: Gather as many beautiful Triumphs into one parking lot as possible, eat and talk bikes, compare pipes, and Ride!
Directions: http://www.redrobin.com/ search locations for Germantown

That does sound like fun. I might have to arrive late to the kiddie pool party we have that day. hmmm... lots of selfish thoughts going through my head!

Would love to come, but my band is playing in Bowie that afternoon, so I can't make it. (Snif.) Maybe another time.

Sounds like we need a Rat ride to see the band one of these days!

The concert in Bowie is free. I've included some details if you would like to come. I'm the guy playing the fiddle.

Saturday AUGUST 25, 2007:

SATURDAY CONCERT IN OLD TOWN BOWIE (Bowie, Md)
HCB performs between 2:00 - 4:00 PM, rain or shine.

The exact location is the Town Green Park,
13050 9th Street, Bowie, MD 20715.

The event is sponsored by the City of Bowie.
Admission and on-street parking are free.

For information about Bowie Saturday Concert Series,
call 301-809-3078.
City of Bowie website: http://www.cityofbowie.org/

Map of Bowie Town Green neighborhood:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...&t=h&z=18&om=0

For information about the Homespun Ceilidh Band,
contact John Ward at 301-277-6220 or scots.fidhle@verizon.net

GETTING TO THE BOWIE TOWN GREEN:
1) Take your best route to Route 193 (Greenbelt Road) in Greenbelt.

2) Follow Route 193 away from Greenbelt further out towards Bowie,
well past Goddard Space Center.

3) Turn Left onto Route 564 (Lanham Severn Road, which becomes
9th Street where the park is). You will be on Rte 564 for awhile.

On Route 564, cross Springfield (Hillmeade) Road. Go a few blocks;
cross Church Lane. Pass Weed St on left, then Brady Ave on right.

STAY ON ROUTE 554, now called 9th Street;
do NOT bear right onto 10th Street.

Pass a small sunny park on the right that has a small vintage cannon
on it. Pass Park Road on the right and Park Avenue on the left.

4) Prepare to look for parking on Chapel Avenue or Railroad Avenue
on the right, both just a few feet before the Town Green, or along
Chestnut Avenue on the left just a few feet after the Town Green.

Follow the curve of Rte 564.

5) Cross Maple Avenue and start looking for the Town Green on the
left -- big blue bird sculpture painted blue -- and for parking
just past a pedestrian crosswalk by Chapel Avenue on the left
and then Railroad Avenue on the right.

6) YOU CAN PARK in the bank's & other parking lot across from the
Town Green (Railroad Avenue on the right), or on the residential
streets that flank the Green -- Chapel Avenue or Chestnut Avenue on
the left off Rte 564; 8th Avenue 1 block to the left of & parallel
to 9th Street (behind the Green).

READ ANY SIGNS RELATING TO PARKING STRICTURES where you choose
to park.

NOTES:
The Bowie Town Green park is small and shady, and has a large bird
sculpture that is painted blue, and the bird is wearing a suit.

IMMEDIATELY LOOK FOR PARKING as you approach the bird.

If you go over a bridge that spans railroad tracks, you have
just passed the Town Green park. Turn around, look for the
park (now on the right), and look for parking.

I'm Booked

Unfortunately I'll miss the festivities this weekend. I was reminded of the "sesame place in PA" already scheduled for saturday and sunday. I'll be looking forward to the next gathering...hopefully in september.

Bonnielass, that sounds like fun. I'd love to meet some of the local Rats. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town. Have a good time!
