I've just rolled 20k with my bike on the stock Metzlers and no problems. They just put new tires on yesterday (Metzler) and I'll be picking her up tomorrow.

The guy said the 15k would be an ideal time for replacement and he showed me the existing wear bars on the original tires.

I've been pretty happy with the Metzler brand.

I have 16,000+ on stock Metzlers and was wondering if I am nuts for not changing it yet. I changed my front @ 10,000 but the rear still has plenty of meat on it. I was thinking of changing it after my next trip to Texas in October. I love Metzlers. Only problem was dealer didn't stock them and gave me a ration of bulls**t about how they wouldn't order them for me cause they recomend a different brand. So i bought a Metzler from another source and went to the dealer to put it on and then they had the stones to give me more crap about not buying from them. Can't win for losing I guess.

Tire wear has a lot to do with the air pressure used.....for those of you who are getting such great mileage from your stock tires, what front/rear air pressures are you running in your tires?

I'm at work and don't have my manual with me, but I pass a tire store on my way to work everyday. At least once every month, usually every two weeks, I check the pressure in my tires and keep it at the recommended level. I have 11,500 on my original metzlers with no problems, and plent of rubber left. You're right about proper air pressure extending the life of the tires.

My Speedmaster has almost 14,000 on the stock Metzelers (great tires!) and I'm guessing I can get at least to 17,000.

I do check tire pressure at least once a week or every 250 miles, whichever comes first. The tires do seem to hold pressure well and only require top-off periodically.
