Question Alloy rims?

Has anyone dumped the chrome steel rims and laced up the wheels with Akront flanged rims or similar? I'm thinking I'm going to powder coat the hubs matte black and then have Buchannans set 'em up with stainless spokes and Akronts - but I'd sure like to see what it might look like before I go the effort to pull it all down. Any pics would be appreciated!

Dick

Dick, check out ThruxTonUp`s album. He has that set-up I believe.I also read in another forum that John experienced some broken spokes with this set up at Cambria.I might be wrong about that though.

Paging Toyanvil

Toyanvil I think has a really nice set-up as well? I have been eying off...
If could also get some Rim sizes posted it would be handy as going down this route the big advantage, other than cosmetic, is being able to put a decent range of tyres in the 170 range.....

Thanks guys! I will call Buchanan's today or drop by - they're on the way home from work. I'm thinking the shouldered rims are they way to go - I used these on all the late 60's flatrack and TT bikes we'd build up at the Triumph dealer I worked for, and we rarely had broken spokes - just bent rims from hitting the wall at Ascot :>)

I guess i had the oportunity to just do that ran over some debri on the road last week and damaged the front rim, triumph has quoted $1400 for a new wheel and tyre, insurance is covering most of it but if the bike was not insured new alloy rims would be a nicer and a cheaper option ..
