OK so I have been trying to decide on which bars I should get. I know that a flood of posts are going to come in about the M bars, but is there really a difference. I see that they are very close in sizes i.e. rise/width. And it seems that the drag bars would be between the two mounting positions of the M bars. But is there a difference with comfort that anybody can tell. The M bars look like they might win out with the angles, but looking for somebody who has sat with both that can give me a little review/comparison. Thanks

I don't like the drag bars, for one, I think they look all wrong on the bonnie (sorry drag bar dudes), and the real bad point w/ the drag bars is that they will hit the tank without risers unless you get them at just the right angle, which may not be the angle you want them to be w/ regards to your wrists.

I think the M bars are great because you can mount them upside down or rightside up depending on how low/high you want them to be. If rightside up is still too low you can consider the super bars.

I have the M bars mounted upside down (lower), but I've been thinking about trying out the superbars.

Yeah, the M's have that little forward curve that really gives them the good look.

Thx Sweat, I didnt know about the hitting tank deal with the drag bars. And I was planning on mounting them with a slight curve down to give them a getter angle. Doesn't look like that would be to good of an idea then.

I tried drag bars on my Bonneville for a month or so before I got the Ace bars I've got now. There's a reason I only used them for a month. I found the drag bars very uncomfortable -- they put the grips at such a shallow angle (almost straight out) that my hands/wrists ached badly. The Ace bars, and the M bars to a lesser extent, angle the grips towards you more, which puts less stress on the wrists.

So after thinking about it, and hearing about the bad points with the drag bars, I went and bought the Superbars from Bellacorse. I am still thinking that the M bars are to aggressive for me w/out rearsets, but thats down the road. Has anybody tried the Superbars, maybe should have asked first but just wanted to spend some money last night I guess.

I had the NB low cafe bars (very close to superbars) and the hand position was not natural feeling and hurt my wrists after a long ride. I ditched the low cafes for the m-bars and haven't looked back - much more natural wrist position, and they look much better. The low cafes were also way too wide (4 inches wider than stock bars) I might have been ok with them if I could cut 2 inches off both ends - but then the controls wouldn't push in enough because of the bend.

FWIW - nobody can describe what it will feel like for YOU - try different bars until you find some you like. You need a 100 mile ride to really know if you made the right decision.

I've got the drag bars from NB, i really like them but haven't ridden on anything other than them and stock. and yes if you don't have them adjusted properly they will hit the horn or starter when you're not paying attention. like at 5:30 in the morning when you are quitely trying to sneak out of your apartment complex without waking the neighbors and you turn the ignition and the handle bar is sitting on the horn button. DOH!

I work as a designer and those m bars with those sweat curves well ... they lit me up. They look great on the bike too but ... for me anyway they were way buzzy. I landed up getting these

and it cured it but then I guess that kind of meant I have handlebars that are pretty expensive now.... I might have paid close to that anyway just because they look so **** cool
