Just read the thread on the good vs. bad points for the T100, and I was going to post this there, but I thought it might get lost.
I had to take my T100 for its first service last week. I rang on Monday to book it in on Friday, and as the week progressed, the weather got progressively worse. I woke on Friday morning to rain and gale force winds. Not willing to pass up a challenge, I decided to ride the 130km to the dealer anyway. Being used to the sure footed, weather protected BMW ride, I wondered how the little bonnie would compare.
Well, I was amazed at how good the trip went. It rained heavily for the entire trip to the dealer, and the bike was so well planted and so stable in the gusty, gale force winds I couldn't believe it. I suspect the lack of faring was an advantage in the strong winds, as side gusts did little to unsettle the bike's line during the entire trip. Coming home was a bit easier, with a tail wind, and somewhat less rain, but still slightly daunting. And, of course, the motor didn't miss a beat the whole trip, unlike the tails I used to hear about Trumpies back in my teenage years.
The only complaint I had was the DriRider pants I had leaked (as they always have since new), but I can't blame the bike for that. I think they should be made to remove the inference that these things are waterproof from the name
So, even though it doesn't have a tool kit, and the horn sounds crap, and the mufflers are feeble, and the seat fixing is rubbish, I got home safely after my 160km challenge and kissed the tank of my T100 (when no-one was looking), and thanked Triumph for making such a great little bike. I'm wrapped.
