gettin busy on the bonnie!

Well, so far i've done the bafflectomy, removed the AI, put fork gaiters on her, striped the tank and fender, put vintage kneepads on her, and installed Triumph bar end mirrors on my 2006 Bonnie.(110 bucks a set, OUCH!) I have some 112 mains i'm going to install, but i'm waiting for the "d" tool and stainless carb bolt set from newbonneville before i do that. im really happy with the way she's shaping up, but i'm paranoid that she may be running to lean. It popped a very little bit on decelleration after i removed the rear baffles, but not at all since removing the AI. Is there any signs i should be aware of to indicate too lean a mixture? will my engine blow up?? aaaggghh! The only thing i've noticed is that there is a little hesitation and mild pinging when easing off the clutch and accelerating into first gear (maybe that's just my poor clutching technique!) and when i let it idle too much in stop and go traffic and it gets hot, i can hear a bit of a clacking sound (valves?) Any advice/comforting words would be appreciated. I've never owned a new bike so i'm being a bit precious...

i used a set for 1962-1970 Triumphs. i like the look of em better than the new ones. just slap them on with a good high tack weatherstripping glue.

Talking

Lucky23...If you're running baffle free stock exhaust with stock jetting (said to be lean from the plant in the first place), then you may need a little more fuel. The 112 may be what you need to suck a little more fuel to go with the free'er flowing exhaust...? I'm no Triumph Technician but that is what it sounds like to me...? Anyone else? As far as blowing up the engine? These things are so over-engineered I don't think you have anything to worry about...I too was concerned about my motor after finding out I was running WAY lean when I changed pod filters...slapped the old ones on. Bike runs like a Farcking train...the clanking, clicking, tapping, is all normal (again, from what I hear), my moto does it too, it's the charm of the bike...Very mechanical...One of the reasons I bought it...I say ride the SOB...ride the piss out of it...

Now...I've got a question for you...You Live in Portland...me too, We both ride New Bonnies, You ink...I need some ink? So I think I'll be giving you a holar for some work on my arms? Is that cool?

MONDO

Jets about right

Going to 112s should be pretty much spot on with baffelectomy. I went a step further by removing the snorkel and putting a Unifilter in. Running 120s, Thruxton needle with one shim. Runs great and air/fuel mixture is good. I'm through messing around with it, runs great. I also used vintage pads, the ones that have a checkerboard effect. I think they looked better than the new ones and were cheaper to boot. Nice looking bike. Did you stripe it with tape?

thanks for the reply! i striped it with tape i got from SignsNow. it's really good aircraft quality black mylar, though a bit spendy, about 30 bucks for a big stripe. i tried to stripe it a little like my pals 1970 Tiger 650.
