1500cc parallel twin
Is anyone on this site tuned in to what Triumph plans to introduce (1500cc parallel twin cruiser)? I hadn't seen any mention of it in the US pubs, but the link to MCN from this home page mentions it. Apparently, MCN will have the full story in their upcoming issue.

I saw the mention of it here also but that's all. Says Triumph is just weeks away from introducing it! But weeks could be 52 weeks! I wish them luck with it. The sneak pics were kind of distant and really didn't show anything. Good luck going after the Harley market. The Rocket to me seemed like it bombed, maybe because it's ugly.

It'd be interesting to see sales numbers on the Rocket3. I think Triumph thought that it would sell well in the USA because it was BIG. I agree with you that the numbers probably weren't too good. Maybe the bike was too big. Perhaps a smaller version that looked like an old in-line Indian/Ace would have been the ticket.
I guess their current plan is to go after the cruiser market with a big vertical twin. Hmmmmm.
I'm thinking they do better in the US with bikes like S3, 675 Daytona, Street Triple, and the entire Bonnie lineup. Hard to say, since I don't have any data to back up my guesses.

+1 to that... too big and way fugly
Now if they'd come out with a bigger triple engine, say about 1200cc, in a bike styled like the T-Bird... I'd be all over it.

Word on the street
The rocket 3 apparently, started as a 1600cc, they did a few show cases in the states and the vibe was that it was ok but people didn't think it was big enough and that there was no market share for such a bike a similar size to a Harley.
People responded by saying they would buy it if it was bigger, so they made it 1800, repeated the process. Still not big enough.
So in the end they just made it as big as they could make it.
I don't know if thats true but I'm sure I read it in some bike article somewhere as well.
It may be ahead of it's time, well have to wait and see, maybe things will be different when the likes of the V Rod become it competition.
The America and Speedmaster already compete favourabley in performance with Harleys, so maybe it is just a numbers thing.
Only time will tell.

Apparently the new 1500 twin is to look similar to the Goldwing
