08' Bonnie - Fuel Injected
Just heard from our local dealership.
Any big deal? More reliable? EPA forced?

Fact 1: Triumph will add fuel injection to its entire retro parallel twin-motor range. The new fuel injection has now become necessary to tackle Euro 3 (oh how I am starting to hate that word as not only are the manufacturers forced to comply, but I have to use it in every bloody news article that I write…). Last I spoke to Triumph about this there were plans to design a sort of “dummy” carburettor to keep the classic looks.

Dummy carburettor? Yikes-

sounds good to me.
Yep that's right. I said it.
Just put nastalga aside for a moment and think about it.
more power out of the crate. with better response.
There's no air box so we don't have to rip that out. Got to rip something out, so rip out the dummy carbs instead.
After market pipes and a rejet. My mistake, no rejet. Download the new fuel maps. Tune it exactly the way you want it.
Better gas milage. Just think you don't have to stop every 120miles for gas.
Just think, all the power of a big bore kit from just pipes and maping.
want more. then you can still do a big bore. If the internals are different (and they will be) then just wait a little they will make one.
They only thing that could be more tragic is lightweight alloy rims.
No tears here.

I'm glad I have carbs just because it's a vintage style bike. I'm sure fuel injection has a lot of pros, especially with the altitude changes we have out here in the rocky mountains, but to me carbs add to what the purpose of the bike is about.
Dummy carbs seem poser to me.

Dummy carbs!
I knew they would paste on some dummy carbs if they went with FI!
Don't get me wrong, I like fuel injection but the "classic" Triumph Bonneville should have carbs.

i just bought (literally) a 2007 t100, and i think i prefer the idea of carbs over FI.
my car has FI, DOHC, lots of valves, etc. (its an acura) and i wanted simple, nostalgic and sweeeeeeeeeeet.
so, i'll prolly have envy after i get it though and every is out enjoying their awesome fuel injection systems...
or will i?

FI vs carbs
As a BMW owner I can attest to the surging issues created by FI that many riders find frustrating. This is largely due to the excessive lean mixture required to meet standards. I personally am not bothered by it, and I suppose there are advantages.

make no mistake, they are going to FI to make the bike leaner and cleaner, not more powerful. How tunable it will be remains to be seen, but I'd rather fiddle with $2 jets than a $600 tuneboy or trips to the dealer.
If it's tunable and user friendly (read, mod friendly) then that will be cool, but what do I care? I already have mine.
it would be cool to see a hotrodded FI 1000cc thruxton, still aircooled, with 100hp and 80 ft lbs right out of the box, but I'm afraid these babies will have radiators soon....

Fuel Injection????
The following URL is supposed to be 2008 Speedmaster as advertised by a dealer in New Zealand. Looks like carbs to me. http://www.thunderbike.co.nz/sales/b.../08sm4_600.jpg

I recently bought my bike knowing the Fuel injection was coming. I wanted a true classic, pain in the butt carbed bike.
