advice needed

Hi folks, got a question- here is the issue.

It would seem that upon turning off down the bike there is a lot more heat and a stronger smell coming from he right muffler than the left. Is this normal?

I put some new pipes on last week and re-jetted, i am pretty certain there are no exhaust leaks but how could i tell?

Also could it be a fuel burning problem, or maybe the carbs need syncing.

any ideas would be great!

thanks people.

Sounds like a mixture problem. Lean mixture = Hot, rich mixture = Cold. You had stated that you rejetted. Maybe an adjustment to the carb balance is in order?

Bricktop...

You would be able to feel a leak in your exhaust system at the clamp with you hand while the engine is running. You could use a very light cloth (or something) dangled or held near the clamps as well to see if there is any leak. You should be able to hear it as well.

Get down and get dirty...

+ 1

You should be able to hear a leak if there is one at the exhaust manifold clamp (where it bolts to the engine). It will be a "hissssss" "Hisssssss" while could be quite subtle (or not) depending how bad the leak is.

IF there is a leak try tightening the two (2) nuts on the threaded studs to the correct torque. Failing that, remove the headers and replace the copper "donut" style sealing gaskets with a thin smear of high temperature silicone. (Permatex makes a good one)

just as another not to this, i put in 115 main jets to replace the old ones, they don't seem to fit up as snug (thread might be a little bigger) than the stock, is this normal?

Why don't you put three or four hundred miles on it and see if it goes away?

No its not, some Keihin jets have a 0.8mm pitch, some a 1mm pitch. I found that out when I bought a bunch from a Kawasaki dealer. Probably the head is bigger too. I figured the jet would only go in far enough without forcing it that it would hit the bottom of the float bowl.
