Question Shark High Pipe Exhaust

Has anyone seen these pipes on a bonni ? Shark high pipe? Saw them on newbonneville.com. Was thinking of getting rid of my rear fender, putting on a fatty and a single seat (corbin smuggler). thought these pipes would look really cool. Bit afraid of muffler burn though. What say anyone? comments? Am I nuts?

I did think about using the shark pipes, but I thought they were a bit high and far back.

I like the high level thing though, so I got a set of Thruxton Trofeo pipes from Zard. Have a look on Bellacorse for images.

It looks awesome on, but I have never, ever had to fit something which assembles so badly. Plus the bracket for the silencers is totally unusable on a road bike. The trofeo was a limited setup made specifically for the Italian thruxton cup bikes. I imagine on a race bike it's fine but on a road bike, no chance.

I prefer it's looks to the shark, as it's bare brushed stainless and milled ally rather than chrome, and in a nicer position too.

Best of luck though...

Yes, I have "seen" them on a bonnie--last year at the Branson Rat Raid. They looked "mean", IMHO, but I would not want them on a serious street bike. They were too straight (for looks), IMHO, to be practical for street riding. I say this because my '66 BSA Hornet came with high pipes and they had some serious bends to get the pipes closer to the engine and farther away from your legs--as well as very good heat shields--in order to minimize leg burns.

I haven't ridden a bonnie with the Shark high pipes nor have I heard one running; however, I would say it would be very hard for the rider to keep from burning legs and almost impossible for the pillion.

also, I have read the Shark Pipes get in the way of the carbs when you're trying to rejet, I don't know if you have to remove them to rejet or just work around them...
