my first stare down
So I was riding around town today trying to get a copy of the 300 movie in Blueray format, went to a few stores, anyhow, was riding next to a guy on a HD for a bit, he was in front and would gun it, I would gun it and keep up with him. We pull to a stop light, he was in the left hand turn lane I was next to him going straight. After a second or two I look over at him, he had his hands on his chin, sitting on his bike just totally staring at me. He kinda had a questioning look on his face like he was trying to figure something out, so I say, "hey how's it going", he just looks at me and says, "cool bike!", the light then turned green and I said "thanks" and drove off.

Of course, he was right about your bike. I notice you didn't pay his bike a similar compliment
Dave.

I recently had a Bandito tell me my Bonnie was a really clean bike. We ended up talking for hours and he even invited me to a benefit for one of his gang members that was "going away" for 99 years. Needless to say... I didn't ask where he was going.

dnyman, you bring up a good point. I get that too from Harley riders occassionally and I don't know what to say back usually a lame "yours is nice too" or some dumb sh*t like that. I was never hit by that Harley "mystique" so I'm just kind of indifferent about them. So anyone have any polite responses for those situations? I can get enthusiaistic about a lot of different bikes HD just isn't one of them.

How about "Thanks!!! I like it, too!"
Or, "Thanks!! You could trade yours in on one too, you know!"
Or, "I know."
I'm sticking with #3.

BlueJ has the right idea, decobike. I think his choice of response (#3) is correct, also.
