help please

I recently did a bafflectomy and AI removal on my 07 bonnie black. Today i starter her up with the choke and she died after a short time. Also i might be crazy but i am hearing a high pitched tapping sound from the motor carb area that is in sync with the motor, sounds like when you tap a key on glass, also sounds like a spark plug firing. You know how it is, you do mods and you think you hear stuff. So should I have any concern? You think the bafflectomy requires a carb adjustment? This is my first bike, also live in Phoenix, AZ at like 1200 ft above sea level. Thanks.

That tapping noise could be an air leak. Did you plug everything after the AI removal? Make sure you don't have any caps, etc. missing. Just a thought.

As discussed, make sure the new vacuum cap isn’t leaking, and that you’ve plugged the hole into the airbox. You might also check that the pipes are on tight, and not leaking where they slip into the header pipe. You may need to use some high temperature sealant on that slip joint, to keep the pipes from leaking. Finally, you could check that the new bolts (next to the spark plugs) are tight.

I don't know what your starting procedure was before the mods, but here in East TN, if it's above 85-90F, I can only use half choke to start the bike.

It's really hard to say exactly what state of tune your bike is in at this point. Theoretically, if you open up the tail end of the system, you are going to affect the whole system, so you might want to think about opening up the other end with a K&N filter and increasing the main jet size slightly, and then getting it tested on an EGA to determine what your A/F mix actually is. The problem with bafflectomies is that the effect varies all over the place because folks do different amounts of chopping. Tuning is much more clear-cut if you get a proper set of aftermarket silencers, but seldom is Joe's bafflectomy the same as Bob's.
