My new one idles round 1000rpm, seems high, but its not been broken in yet.

I'm hoping they lower it at the 1st service

Thumbs up Same with mine

Mine is at around 1200 because Like Ace's it is brand new with 511 miles on it. I have read that after the first service they lower it to around 800. That's all I know and that's all I'm saying - That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

I prefer mine at 1000 or so rpm. 800, just imho, is too low. I think the book calls for 900/950 or something like that

Other Motorcycle: Unfortunately not
Extra Motorcycle: Would love a Speed Triple
Mine is set to idle at 1000 (when warm), at the suggestion of my dealer.

user manual says 1000 +/- 500..

mine runs at 1000 when just warmed, 1200-1500 when hot.

Could that be because it's tuned too lean?

Depends on the moon! I fiddle with the idle constantly (especially at a long red light).
