Question T100 footrests

Hi,

Anybody know what the footrests on a '07 T100 are made of? I see they are some kind of cast metal but doesn't seem to be bog-standard cast iron. Can this "stuff" be welded in any way or is it a bin job?

I jacked my bike up for a clean and it toppled over in the garage. No scratches or facial damage but the brake side footrest somehow didn't spring back and sheared off at the mounting.

Ernie

Bummer on that. I'm no super-de dooper expert welder or metalurgist, but I dont think that cast stuff is easily weldable. If it is old school cast iron, maybe it could be, but something tells me it isnt iron
look on classifieds for take offs, they're surprisingly expensive new

It looks like some sort of aluminium alloy to me. Could be difficult to weld.

Done

Guys,

Yes, It's some kind of aluminum alloy. A friend of a friend (through the wife!) etc. and the footrest is as good as new - welded, cleaned up, hole OK and treated to look like new. Went to him in the morning and arrived back next day (could have had it sooner if I'd cried). And all it cost was the price of a few pints of beer.

Anyone else with a similar problem (and no access to used bits) check your local friendly welder and maybe you'll be fixed up.

Cheers,

Ernie

PS. Made it to the largest bike fest in Estonia as I could take herself.

Glad to hear you got the footrest fixed. Hadn't noticed that you were in Estonia - could have been hard finding one in a local breakers yard!

Back in the Saddle Again

I'm glad you were able to get your peg repaired and didn't have to fork over the cash for a new one. And you're bound to be glad that you're "back in the saddle again".

Thumbs up

Hi,

Should have put ESTONIA in big letters. I have one of three Bonnies in Estonia. The first went to a local yokel, the second to the British Embassy Defence Attache and the third to me - a born and bred Brit of Estonian parents (who rode a BSA and lusted after a Bonnie as a youngster), hence I'm over here.

As I said, I made it to the bike fest (there were some US, UK and Irish bikers there!). The bike was much admired and several Estonians said they would check it out. One even went as far as to say to his girl - "My payrise should cover the payments"!

Cheers mates,

Ernie

My right peg sheared three nights ago after a spill onto some grass. Bent the right lollipop as well. Rode with heel on peg mount till a buddy pointed out the rear peg could sub till I got a new one (I'm really not the smartest bloke sometimes, duh). . back in the saddle.

Petes (my local dealer) is 4 miles from my house. Is it worth getting the broken one welded up? And anyone have suggestions for mirror upgrades other than the bar enders on newbonneville? I like having mirrors close in my periphery, so I'm looking for ones that mount up where the stock ones do. . .

Thanks In Advance for any replies.

Old Greaser, glad to hear that you were able to mend what you had, considering the assumed difficulty in getting parts locally in Estonia. . .

i think the replacement peg runs like 80-90 bucks.
to add to the difficulty the front pegs can have 2 diffrent size holes that the pin goes through to the footpeg mounting bracket. the small hole foogpeg is the normal and common size and the large hole is the rarer one. if you have the small hole footpeg you can get the replacement footpegs fron NB. if you have a large hole footpeg and it breaks you gotta get creative. you can check to see if you have the small hole by measuring if the rear footpeg pin is the same width as the front footpeg. If they are the same width, congrats you have a small hole footpeg. If the rear pin is not the same size and the front, protect it from breaking with all your will.
i think.
some one correct me if i am wrong.

ps if anyone has an extra "large hole" right footpeg, drop me a message.
