AI gone. What about ..

I removed the AI today using the AI removal kit that came with my D&D pipes. It was pretty easy and the bike looks cleaner now.

I was wondering, what to do with the hose on the right intake manifold shown in the photo below?

You take the left one off because it is attached to the reed valve. What about the right one?

Take and cap the right one also.
go to the auto part store and get a pack of 7/32" (3/16" will also work in a pinch but are very tight) vacuum plugs. They will come in sets of 6 (you only need 4) and cost a whole $2.00.
Get an extra pack because they start to crack after about 6 months. If you loose one on a ride the bike will run crappy at best and you will ruin your ride.

I bought the Triumph caps too, after the auto store caps rotted in three months. The Triumph caps will need to be replaced probably every year. Suggest you put the caps on with one of those little spring clamps for hose.

I removed the hose on the right manifold as well. After the stories of breaking vacuum caps I decided to just cut some of the original hose and plug each end with a screw. I capped the other side that way as well. Knowing me I would never check the crappy rubber vacuum caps in time to avert disaster. I need something a little sturdier.

Now the question remains what to do with the other end of the hose that was running to the right manifold. I currently have it capped off. I noticed that it is running to this cylinder just in front of the rear wheel (see photo.)

What does that cylinder do and can it be removed? If it can be removed it would be good to know for those who are doing ARK's. If that cylinder is on the bike there is no way to drop the rear wheel enough to get the factory airbox out. Replies appreciated.

Hrrm. Wonder if GaryD wants to repost his "Removing the Evaporative Loss System" guide. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

What about this set of hoses?

There is another set of hoses on each carb. They are linked together in the middle by a T connector and the resulting combined hose then goes back to the cannister.

I read somewhere that you are not supposed to plug the vents that drain the float bowl. Are these the float bowl vent tubes?

There is one other tube that connects to the carb setup. It connects to a bar that joins the 2 carbs. It then connects to a T connector. One side of the T connector goes to the underside of the gas tank and the other goes to the cannister. Maybe that drains the float bowls?

Does anyone have a copy of GaryD's instructions?
Thanks,
DP
