Dude, where's my tank paint?

I guess this turned out pretty well.
UPDATE: After a long and painful repair process, the tank is finally back on my bike, minus a few pieces of clearcoat and plus a lot of epoxy. Read this thread only if you are extremely bored or a glutton for punishment.

I didn't mention it before, but this is a Norman Hyde SS "Street Scrambler" alloy tank that holds a *verified* 5.8 US gallons of fuel.

It is a thing of beauty! What finish do you have on it, if any? What ya doing with the fenders and sidecovers? Please post photos when you get it all together.

Several layers of clearcoat, if I recall correctly.

I'm not sure what I will do with the fenders/sidecovers yet. I still need to see what the bike looks like with the tank on. I'll be sure to post more pictures tomorrow!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Sweet!

I was just at the Air & Space Museum over the weekend and admiring the clean, polished look of the shiny vintage aircraft - P51 Mustang, etc... thinking how great it would look on my bike. Now I see I was right!
