Stock Metzelers

Now that I've riden my America in two thunderstorms, I have to say that the stock Metzelers suck when wet. What brand tires does everyone recommend? I loved the Avons on my TBS.

rubber

I'm not impressed with the stocks tires on my 05 Speedmaster, I have had two major lock-ups and the stock Metzelers just slide on down the road and this happened both on a dry roads. I'm allso looking for new rubber. Good luck, post what you find.

Yep, come to think of it I've had a couple of lock ups on dry roads too. I will probably replace the tires soon. I don't think Triumph picked a very good tire for the Speedy and TBA.

If you think the Metzlers suck, then be glad you never had the stock Bridgestones. I put the Metzlers on the 03 after the bridgestones and felt I could ride on the ceiling afterwards. Even in the rain.

But you are the first ones I've heard complain about them.

Ditto. I find the Metzelers to be good tires in a variety of conditions.
Last week I rode the Kingpin in a thunderstorm downpour that was so heavy I was almost hydroplaning. No tire is going to help if the rainfall is too heavy.

metzlers

Around here, they are held in the highest reguard. I ride with H-D's, Hondas, Yammi's, and a Suzuki and all put Metzlers on. One guy rides the dragon every year and won't have anything BUT Metzlers because of their wet weather performance. Just goes to show ya.

perhaps the rain inIowa is different from the rain capital of the northwest..Seattle!!Here the other riders are envious of my metzlers..I have had no trouble with mine..I always slow down and ride backroads home if caught in the storm and have been pleased with performance and will replace with another set when ready.

All I can say is that riding home both times in the rain, the Metzelers just didn't hold the road. I rode very slow, but in every turn and corner I felt them breaking loose. I'm glad the rest of you aren't having any problems. Maybe I was just hallucinating. I was a teenager in the '70s.

Maybe it's not the tires, be careful.
