Sidestand Stop
Last night I installed the Sprint/Emgo teardrop pipes. They don't include a stop for the side or center stands, both of which hit the pipes. I fixed the center-stand issue by using some high-temp silicone to glue a piece of leather to part of the centerstand that hits the pipes.
The sidestand, however, seems like a harder fix. The surface that comes into contact with the pipes is the small round metal bar that sticks out of the side that you grab with your foot when you put the stand down. (It's the part with the little round ball at the end.) It seems the ideal fix would be to find some high-temp rubber tubing of some sort. Preferably something stretchy enough to fit over the little ball on the end, and then fit snugly along the length of the little arm that's hitting the pipes.
Suggestions?

How about cutting a finger off a leather glove,
or maybe a mechanix type glove, preferably black.
Squeeze some high temp rtv into it.
Push it on over the ball end.
Work as much rtv up to the top for cushioning.
Then tie wrap the open end, with a black tie wrap of course.

You could just go to an auto parts store and get a muffler repair kit with glass tape and adhesive and wrap it around that little tang of metal. There are several kinds of such kits so look inside them to be sure you get the kind with a glass tape or glass wire cloth that you can form around the tang on the side stand foot. You can even get it in a chrome metal tape if you so desire.

Bluheeler and Monte,
Brilliant suggestions, both. Thank you.
Bluheeler, I assume your handle refers to the dog? Had a Blue Heeler (named "Dingo", of course) for 11 years. Smartest dog I've ever known. Hyper and willful, but scary smart. Great companion.

Yes, the dog. I had two for 13 years, and they definitely needed something to do.
I misunderstood your problem. I thought the ball was hitting the exhaust. If you're going to wrap the stand, lay a bead of high temp silicone on top first and let it cure before you wrap it. This will give the stand some cushioning.

the way mine sits it isnt the ball that hits,it hits in about the center of the shaft the ball is on, so I stretched a piece of 3/8 fuel hose over it and it does ok

The side-stand is the easier fix of the two, IMHO. To fix the side stand, just put a piece of material (I used thick leather) on the inside of the elbow type joint the side-stand makes with the frame. This prevents the side-stand from coming up as far as previously, and can be adjusted by the thickness of the material used. I used silicone caulk to stick the piece of leather to the frame side of the elbow type joint over 18000 miles ago and it is still working like day one.
