2005 t100 It looks like I have an Oil leak!

Has anyone else had any leaks on a 2005 bonneville t100? Please let me know what the problem was, if possible. thanks

Kinda

Just a wee bit of seepage from the oil galley bolts behind the starter. At this time it's not serious enough to warrant fixing. Everything else is bone dry.

Sounds The Same

That sounds like the exact same place my leak is coming from. Last weekend I rode a 600 mile trek and my oil level did not seem to be down at all. But when I park I see little drops of what looks like oil right under the starter.

You guys have to cut this out! I've been trying to calm newbies by telling that the Hinckley puppies don't dribble like the old puppies used to do!

My 04 Thrux started leaking around the bottom of the clutch cover at 4k miles - but - it had been sitting outside and not ridden in a year when I bought it. New gasket solved the problem.

Yep

You can find several other Bonneville owners on the forum here who have the same leak. Some have been able to correct it themselves, others have taken it to their dealer to fix. I'm not extremely well versed on this particular leak problem but it doesn't seem to be a big deal to fix. As I said earlier, my seepage is so slight that I just occasionally lay down beside the bike and wipe away the few drops of "moistness" that is there. My oil level does not seem to be affected at all. It's one of those things I'll get the dealer to fix this winter when he is less busy and I'm not riding as much.

common problem

This seems to be a normal thing on the new bonnevilles. Slight seepage from oil sump. Hard to get to to fix so I have left it alone. Only leaks when running when pressure creates a small seepage. You can either live with it since it will never affect your oil level or if you are a perfectionist you can remove the bolt with an allen wrench and put some teflon tape around the threads and put it back in again. You have to dismantle a few things to get to it.

This problem comes up a lot on this board along with 2 other common problems.

1. Can't get gas cap off
2. Can't lock front forks

I didn't have a leak until I replaced my clutch cover. Against my own advice, I dry-fitted the gasket instead of using a light coating of sealant. It's a veh-wee veh-wee slow leak, but it bugs the crap out of me. I just got a new gasket, but I've forgotten the name of the sealant a Triumph rebuilder recommended to me. Any preferences?
