Bonnie Models for the Dummies

Hiya,

This may be a bit embarrassing question but...

Could someone please explain the differences between an 'ordinary' Bonneville and a T100? They look very similar, the other having two-tone paint job on the tank, but what else is different? Or is it just a style thing?

Just a style thing, now that they all get the 865 motor

I have a 2006 Bonnie Black. The engine size is 790cc. Last year the T-100's had larger engines at 865cc and different paint schemes. As Geoff says, this model year has seen Triumph standardize the Bonnies to the 865cc engine. I believe there is a Tach only on the T-100's. So just pick a paint color and ride, (Black being the foremost choice).

For '07, same motor and thrux needles, same sprockets, "T" has tach. chrome case covers, two tone paint, BOTH levers adjustable reach, silver motor in lieu of black.... a few other minor things...If I missed something important, the boys will advise...I have them both side by side in my garage right now so "I'll check on them" :-)

The Triumph website lists slightly different horsepower and torque numbers (I would suppose these are 2007 specs, as they aren't listed as fuel-injected and I thought that was coming in '08):

Bonneville: 66 hp, 52 ft-lbs.
Bonneville T100: 66, 52.
Thruxton: 69, 53.
Scrambler: 56, 51.

All have the 865cc motor.

I think the thing you notice most of all is the chromed engine parts and the two tone paint on the T100.

Not being into chrome, I got the Bonnie Black.

Thumbs up Bonne & t100

Pre 06 there is some REAL difference. The Bonne is 790cc The rest is cosmetic. The 790 engine(not made any more) has some bennies if you are gonna do some true mods. I like it better than the 865.
New ones- as said COSMETICS sincethey all have the 865 now. I am not sure but I think they did that for pollution reasins (kinda like the 240-260-280 Z). I as do others seem t olike the 03-05 Bonne's. When mine starts to rust away - I will do a tear own & give her some real new guts. Till then she is a real delight to ride. Hey any Bonne T100 0r is a NICE RIDE!!

Important thing is the T100 & Thruxton have a Tach. ALL real Bonnies have twin clocks. Always have, always will.

Talking

The main difference to me besides an extra $1000 for the T100 is that you don't get into the Special Edition Black Bonneville Club! We will however always acknoledge you and ride with you and treat you as our equal!

Besides that - it doesn't really matter it's only eye candy!

tach

Yeah the tach would be nice! Always had 1 before. Some one here gave me a way t oadd 1 for $150 or so? I am so use t onot having one that I would probably be overly focused on it now? The under limiter rev-limiter works ok .
Kinda used t oit now?
