Chattering @ 5000 rpm

When I am riding and dcide to really twist the throttle, I get a chattering noise at around 5000 rpms. If I build to the 5000 more gradually, the chatter is not there. Only when you really open the throttle.

Any idea what is causing this noise?

Try holding down your clutch lever. Mine rattles at a certain RPM when a certain load is placed on the engine -- vibes come through the handlebars and shake the clutch lever in its bracket. If I push it down with a couple fingers to keep it from vibrating, the chattering stops.

I suppose it could just as easily happen with a brake lever, or possibly a mirror if it's a little loose.

Thanks to all who attended!

I will try that on the lever, but it sounds as if it were coming from the font of the engine.

The clutch does not appear to slip. The only time I notice it is when I am in 5th gear and hit it hard. I am using the Mobil 1 racing 4t (I believe) what is recommended by the dealer. I am planning to switch to Amsoil at the next change.

I run 93 octane fuel.

Should any of these things be changed?

It is probably at about 4000 to 4500 when I twist it hard.

Does it feel like someone has a hold of the frame right under the tank, and they are shaking it at a frequency less than the engine RPMs? I have a Bonneville Black and I can be going 65mph and give it 3/4 to full throttle and it will shake (shudder) noticeably until about 75mph. It stops instanly, like someone turned off a light switch. If I accelerate gradually (very gradually), it will remain smooth. It is still under warranty, so I don't want to try to start tearing things apart to try to solve it and the dealer is clueless.

I feel a similar sensation.. sorta feels like the motor might be bogging a little bit, but it shouldn't as it's right in the power band.

Sounds like a jetting or carb balance issue, perhaps
