Have you metered those fuses? Sometimes a visual inspection isn't enough. It may look OK but may be open.

Might be wrong but I'm sure there's a fuse under the seat next to the CDI unit.

It's FIXED!!!!!

So after all this... it was a bad connection under the fuse BOX. The fuses weren't blown, but one of the connections had just barely slipped out.

Also, the previous owner apparently put in a wrong size fuse... it didn't blow, but it got so hot that it caused the connection to go bad. I didn't even think about fuse sizes, because come to find out, there is supposed to be a fuse box cover ... but I don't have one on my bike!

Problem was fixed by the dealer for $80. After that, I spent the day with my girl... put another 100 miles on her and she started up like a dream every time.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your responses and advice. It's cool to have you guys here.

J.

Good to hear you're rolling again. Enjoy your ride.

Did you get a cover for your fuse box?

Alarm

Do you have an alarm on it.
My data tool system three gives me the same symptoms when it plays up.
It also has an engine immobilezer on it.
