I hate to even suggest this, but this sounds like the red kill switch on the throttle housing....
I like to think it's the simple stuff that goes bad first...

Thought of that to, but with the kill switch engaged you would not have an oil and neutral light on.

I'm so friggin' baffled!
After the push start, she runs great... but absolutely no light (high or low), no blinker and no horn.
I'm going crazy!

There's a common ground to all this - Is your speedometer light and high-beam warning light working? And/or your brake/tail/rear turn signal lights working?
There is a connector that goes to the (-) side of the battery that ties all these things together... I'm looking at the electrical diagram, but it doesn't say where physically the connector is located - only that it's near the negative side of the battery.

No electrical at all except for the neutral light and the oil light. No high beam... no brake lights, blinkers, headlights etc...
Please tell me you've found something!?

Hey,
I'm looking at the wiring diagram now.
Pull fuse 2 and 9 out and check them. Better yet, replace them
fuse 2 is 30a. fuse 9 is 10 amp
If the fuse is good the next likely culprit is your ignition switch.
Put the switch in the park position - if the front position light (small bulb in headlight assy) and the rear light come on, then the ignition switch has an open in the run position between pins 3 and 4.
If you can remove the ignition switch and ohm it out and there is no open between pin 3 and 4 then you most likely have an open in the yellow/blue wire from the ignition switch connector to fuse 9.
The last thing that I could see causing this problem is the starter switch.
If this were my bike I would replace fuses 2 and 9.
Then I would open the housing containing the start switch.
Check the wires and connectors in there for tightness.
Note: There will be an extra connector hanging loose in
that housing which is for a main lighting switch. Not on U.S. models.
Finally I would remove the ignition switch and ohm the switch and wiring.
If none of that fixed it, I would be off to the dealer.

That little wire that goes down beside the countershaft sprocket cover and connects to the bottom of the engine...I pinched it when replacing said cover and it caused problems similar to what you described. I re-routed, re-insulated, and re-attached it to the motor and my problem went away. I think that it connects to a neutral interlock that disables the starter...

Can you describe the process of re-insulating and reconnecting that little wire? It was definitely pinched, so I SPLICED it, reattached the plug with electrical tape and plugged it back into its spot... It definitely effects the neutral light, but could it also effect the headlights, blinker and horn? How did you reattach it? Thanks.

I had a starting problem as well a few months ago. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact symptoms. However, the easy fix was to replace one of the two little black boxes that attach in the region of the airbox. These may be called diodes, although I can't recall for sure. One of them is for the turn signals, and the other is for, among other things, the starter. I brought mine into Auto Zone and had them match it up with one they had on hand.
